Ceramic fiber refractory shapes are fibrous insulation components formed to suit an installation profile. They should be specified as an insulation system component, with attention to the supporting structure, joints and exposed surfaces. A fiber shape is different from a dense structural ceramic part or an electrically powered heater.

Describe the installation profile

Provide a drawing showing the outer shape, thickness, openings and contact with adjacent insulation or metalwork. Mark the hot face and the supported areas. Include any fastening arrangement, clearance or assembly sequence that the shape must accommodate.

Information needed for material review

• Working temperature profile and heating or cooling cycles.
• Atmosphere, direct flame or flow exposure where applicable.
• Required fiber type, binder or surface treatment if already specified.
• Limits for shrinkage, handling strength or other application-specific checks.
• Safety data, installation instructions and documentation required for the proposed material.

Ask for the material’s stated use conditions rather than treating a classification temperature as a universal continuous operating limit. Confirm the suitability of the complete installed arrangement.
