Product Description Porous mullite ceramic parts need a specification that explains why porosity is required. An insulating component and a part intended to pass gas or liquid should not be evaluated only by the same nominal porosity figure. The drawing and test requirements must match the intended function. Define the shape and supported surfaces Provide the outline, wall thickness, openings and mounting arrangement. Identify load-bearing areas, sealing interfaces and any surfaces that will be exposed to abrasion or handling. Include the mating-part dimensions where the fit controls installation. Choose requirements that describe the function For insulation: temperature profile, heat-flow direction, installation space and required thermal data. For flow-through use: medium, pressure conditions, permeability or flow-test requirement, and particle-related acceptance criteria. For either use: mechanical support, atmosphere, cleaning conditions and acceptable dimensional change. If pore size, open porosity or strength must be controlled, state the test method and limit required by the application. Do not use a generic porous-ceramic description as a finished-part rating.
