Cordierite sheets and honeycomb panels have different geometries and need different enquiry details. A sheet is defined mainly by its faces, thickness and outline. A honeycomb panel also needs a channel description and an orientation within the assembly.

For flat sheets and plates

Specify length, width, thickness and any holes or cut-outs. Identify the supported area, contact faces and required flatness. Include the fastening method and the clearance around the edges so the component can be reviewed in its installed position.

For honeycomb panels

Provide the overall size, channel direction, channel geometry and wall requirements. Where the panel is in a flow path, state the gas or liquid, flow conditions, contaminants and any pressure-drop or blockage criteria. A honeycomb shape alone does not establish filtration performance, catalyst activity or emissions compliance.

Agree the working and inspection conditions

• Temperature profile, cycling and surrounding atmosphere.
• Mounting support, sealing interfaces and possible contact loads.
• Checks for dimensions, channel condition, edge damage and cleanliness.
• Material requirement, quantity and any sample-evaluation procedure.
