Diameter tolerance controls size. Straightness describes the form of the rod or its axis, depending on the drawing callout. Roundness, runout and end-face perpendicularity answer different questions. Use the requirement that matches the assembly and define the datum or inspection method when needed.<\/p>\n
A sketch should identify flat, rounded or chamfered ends and any stepped diameter. Mark which section slides, seals or locates in a holder. Specify finish on that zone rather than automatically applying the same finish to every surface.<\/p>\n
