Start by identifying whether the part is a solid cylinder, a sleeve with a through bore, or a stepped component. The finished drawing and service conditions determine which material grade and finishing requirements need review.<\/p>\n<h2>Solid cylinders and bored sleeves<\/h2>\n<p>For a solid cylinder, mark the outside diameter, overall length and working end faces. For a sleeve, add the bore, wall thickness and relationship between inner and outer surfaces.
